My Christmas Wishlist

Follow Me on Pinterest

So as I have been doing the last of my Christmas shopping (ok, ok, it was almost all of it ;0) today I thought I would share some of the things I would love to see under my Christmas Tree or in my stocking.

Make-up
NARS Eye Shadow Palette - New Wave- We all have plenty of palettes that have your basic nudes and everyday colors. I want something out of the box. This pallettte would make me smile everytime I opened it, and shake up my beauty routine.

NARS Illuminator Super Orgasm - I love how sparkly Super Orgasm is, and it's such a flattering shade. I would love this to give me a fun date night glow ;0)

NARS Nail Polish in Arabesque - I have loved this for years. I wish I would have used it on my toes for my wedding, it really is so pretty and sparkly.

NARS Lipstick and Nail Polish in Jungle Red - I love the idea of having my lips and nails match. It would just be so chic.

 Beauty

Clarisonic PLUS - Shhh!! I'm pretty sure this is what the hubby is getting me for Christmas (yay!) I've been wanting one for awhile. If I do receive it I will let y'all know what I think.

 Clothes

HARRIET Stud Pointed Shoes from TopShop - I love a good leopard print and these are just so cute. Ladylike with and edge, which is just my style.

ASOS CURVE Skater Skirt In Leather - It would be so fun to have swishy leather skirt to wear over leggings and give some girlie edge to my t-shirts and I'd totally wear my denim vest with it too.

ASOS CURVE Legging In Metallic Animal - I love these leggings. I have an OBSESSION with leopard print (it is TOTALLY a neutral, wink wink). I live in leggings, and these would punch up a basic look.

If money were no object

MARC BY MARC JACOBS smooth tote - I LOVE Marc Jacobs, and covet his leather goods. He makes beautiful timeless purses. This red would pop against so many outfits and I would "love it long time!!" ;0)

Black Gold-Wedge Platform Heel by Marc By Marc Jacobs - I love the shine of these sandals. I would wear them with black tights in the winter and red painted toes in the summer.

Holiday Party Look: Plus Size Fashion

plus size fashion. holiday style

It's Holiday Party Time! I personally love any excuse to get all decked out in shiny sequins and fun colors. As a plus size gal it can be hard to find cute holiday looks

 Follow Me on Pinterest

I found some great items on the ASOS site that would make an awesome party outfit. The sequin peplum top is so fun and the multi color sequins means you can mix and match it with so many colors. I love a good skinny jean, make it in a fun color and I'm sold! I love fun jewelry and anything that sparkles....my style is either BIG statement pieces or very dainty ones. I also have to be comfortable, so some fun flats are the way to go for me, and these red ones from Kate Spade are just so cute!. I love a great lip and NARS's lipstick in Schiap is such an amazing pink! It is a must buy! I also love a cat eye, but I'm not very good at doing it, these appliques from Sephora would do the trick! I have been looking for a leather jacket for years, this one from ASOS is so pretty and doesn't break the bank, it's a perfect topper to add some edge to any look.

I'm ready to party!

90's Makeup Revamp: What Products I'm Loving Right Now

smokey eye, oxblood, lipstick

The new trend is the "Oxblood" color in everything from lips to nails to clothes to accessories to decor. Well as far as the lips are concerned it's just a different name for the Vamp craze of the mid 90's. I remember the dark lipstick and nail polish from Chanel that started it all. I wore it, I loved it, I probably looked scary doing it. Ha! Oh the things we do in our youth. Well I have come back to the look, though I think I probably (hopefully....wink wink) do it better now.

Two products that are essential to the look I am rocking and loving right now are Revlon's Lipstick in Black Cherry, and L'Oreal's Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner in black. With the lipstick I find it looks the best when I blot it and smooth it a bit with my pinky; makes it more of a build-able stain. The eyeliner is AMAZING! It goes on smooth and is smudegeable and is inky black, it is my newest fave eyeliner, and it lasts! I can do a smoky eye in about 5 mins....JADORE!

Below are the products I use to get the above look....all great!

NARS Orgasm Blush, ELF Bronzer, L'Oreal, Amay, Revlon Black Cherry Lipstick

  1. l'oreal bare naturale mineral foundation in soft ivory
  2. e.l.f. studio golden bronzer
  3. nars bluch in orgasm
  4. revlon super lustrous lipstick in black cherry
  5. l'oreal voluminous mascara in carbon black
  6. l'oreal voluminous smoldering eyeliner in black
  7. almay intense i color satin i kit for blue eyes

Style Face Off: Leonard Hofstadter vs Johnny Galecki

The Big Bang Theory, Fashion Face Off, Johhny Galecki, Leonard Hofstadter
The Big Bang Theory has helped to make Nerds cool again. I have watched the show since it started 5 years ago. At first it was a reminder of my friends back home in Houston, as I was living in Los Angeles, but it has become my own little piece of nerdvana in my very normal life.

All the characters have a very defined style. As proven in this Big Bang Theory Art. All we see are the clothes, yet we know which characters are which.

Tshirt Graphic

Leonard Hofstadter is my "boyfriend" from the show. I would definitely give Penny a run for her money in the pursuit for Leonard's heart. His style consists of straight legged pants, a hoodie, more often than not a army green jacket,a ironic or comic related tee, Converse, and his black rimmed glasses. We love it, we know it, and it helps define his character. It relates to us that he likes classic with his Converse, fun nerdy things via his tshirts, and comfort via the rest of his outfit. It makes him lovable.

Johnny Galecki (the actor that plays Leonard) has a very different style. Johnny is a bit more sexy. Often with his wavy hair slightly unkempt, a bit rakish. He has style. He likes a nice pair of jeans or trousers that are cut well, a good jacket, and he likes to wear v-necks. You can find many images of him showing a little chest with a v-neck or a button down unbuttoned a little. He prefers roughed up boots or a classic oxford shoe with a twist. He wears scarves and leather jackets. When he is dressed up he chooses well cut suits and usually has a unique color or fabric.

Are you prepared for Zombies?!

I've been a fan of Zombie movies for years and have been a fan of The Walking Dead show since it first aired. I often find myself contemplating: What I would do in such an emergency? What would I pack? Do I have enough stuff to hole up in my apartment? and certainly, What would I wear?

Follow Me on Pinterest

Well last night I answered the Wear question.
The middle selection is realistic representation of what I have that I would throw on. Since it is December and I currently live in Utah, layering is key

  • I would throw on my black jeans, a black cami, my 3/4 sleeve striped top, my black hoodie, my jean vest over the hoodie, my brown leopard scarf, my black beanie, and some fingerless gloves.
  • In my vest pockets I will have a pocket knife, lip balm, a steel and flint lighter.
  • Shoes wise I don't have the greatest practical selection. I'd throw on my black leather Vans and then snatch up a pair of knee high boots with good soles ASAP.
  • Why knee high boots? Because I'll be traipsing through corpses and if one turns out to be a biter, I want my legs protected from Zombie teeth.
  • I'll have a cross body bag on, with my hoodie and vest over the strap (no need to have it get caught on anything or grabbed by undead hands ready to pull me in for a meal)
  • A leather belt to attach my filtered water bottle to and to use if I need to tourniquet a leg or arm.
  • Black leather jacket (Believe me, I will be getting one ASAP. Good protection from zombie teeth.)
Inside of my cross body bag I will have:
  • small axe or large knife
  • a map of the area
  • Swiss army knife (have multiples)
  • lighter (have multiples!)
  • can opener (essential! carry more than one!)
  • sunscreen moisturizer (a wind chapped and sunburned face is no fun)
  • lip balm (have multiples)
  • duct tape (has soo many uses. Wrap your fore arms and calves (if not in boots) to help protect from close biting encounters)
  • Soap (my husband saves up the hotel soaps and lotions whenever he travels for work. So we have a ton. I will have a plastic bag full.)
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Coffee and Cigarettes (I personally do not smoke or drink coffee, but these things are great bargaining tools) (My husband also saves the coffee packs from the hotels.)
  • A small album of pictures with important documents tucked inside (hey you never know when you might need your I.D.)
  • First Aid Kit (multiples are always good)
  • My cell phone and charger (texting might work in the beginning and then later you might find a power source and at least you can use it to record findings. And GPS might work)
For Protection:
  • My husband's gun and all the ammo I can get.
  •  A long handled shovel, can be used as a walking stick, to bash in zombie brains, strapped to my back pack, etc.
  • A hammer (and some nails packed in my bag) to board up windows, break glass, kill zombies.
  • An axe, used as weapon and to chop wood, break through doors, etc.
My answer to the What to pack question.
A back pack will contain:
  • Sleeping Roll tied to bottom of back pack
  • A dated journal (To record happenings, deaths, people, days/years)
  • Black Sharpies (To label things, write warnings, directional arrows, etc)
  • Duct Tape
  • Scriptures (Book of Mormon, Bible, etc)
  • Survival Guide
  • Local Maps
  • First Aid Kit
  • Soap
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Crank Radio/Flashlight (No batteries needed)
  • Black Trash bags and plastic baggies
  • Matches and Lighters
  • Binoculars
  • Utensils
  • Metal Mug (so you can boil water in if needed)
  • Can Opener
  • Pocket Knife
  • Sunblock Moisturizer
  • Lip Balm
  • Hammer
  • Axe or knife
  • Rope (about 50 ft of good strong rope)
Clothes to pack, rolled up at the bottom of your back pack:
(Makes a good pillow)
  • 2 pairs of underwear
  • 2 pairs of socks
  • Leggings or thermals for layering
  • Another pair of jeans
  • Camisole
  • Leather gloves
  • Denim button up
Please feel free to share any must haves that I left out :0)
It's a team effort to survive!

This talk by President Uchtdorf is such a powerful message about judging others. I love anytime he speaks, and he always has wonderful things to say. This is from a talk he gave during the April 2012 Sunday morning session of General Conference.

My Travel Essentials

It's that time of year where travel is upon us, so I thought I would share with you my travel essentials.

My collage above is a fair representation of what I packed with me on my most recent trip to visit my family in Houston, TX. I currently live in Salt Lake City, UT, so the change in climate was big. I made sure to pack things that could transition from cold to hot easily. Houston has a tendency to have drastically different weather from one day to the next.

What I took and wore on the plane:

The middle outfit is a representation of what I wore on the plane, with the drapey cardigan included.
  • Large Scarf: great for using as a makeshift pillow, or to snuggle up under if you get cold.
  • Drapey Cardigan: Great layering piece that is like being able to wrap a blanket around you.
  • Denim Vest: Loved this piece! New travel must have! The pockets were great to be able to slip my boarding pass into and easily accessed but secured when buttoned closed. And was a stylish addition to my outfit.
  • Loose Striped Top: Cute and comfy.
  • Back Leggings: Comfy and stretchy and so much better than sweat pants for a flight.
  • Black Knee High Boots: Mine have a side zip, so they were easily slipped on and off. It was easier to wear them than figuring out how to pack them, and they're comfortable.
  • Carry on size suitcase: I had my carry on suitcase stuffed with as much as I could get in it.
  • Backpack: Then the backpack was my other carry on that I could stow under the seat in front of me. In it I stored my cosmetics, accessories, I-Pad, magazine, book, and curling irons.
  • Clutch: The clutch held my wallet and various paperwork essentials and my beloved Smith's Rosebud Salve ( This stuff is AMAZING! I have been using it for years and it works great on lips, hands, face, to tame fly aways, etc.) The clutch was easily stowed in my backpack as I boarded the plane. My clutch has a wrist strap which makes things sooo much easier.
  • I-pad, book, and magazines: I always like to buy a magazine at the airport, then I also will have a book to read, and my I-pad.
I actually had packed a few more items that I didn't wear. I made the conscious decision to only pack my cutest and easiest outfits, so that I wouldn't wear something that I later would look back on and think, "Ewww!"

What I packed:

Tops:
  • Basic Black T-shirt: I had two, stretchy, v-neck and soft. Both from Target. Great for layering, but nice enough alone.
  • Black and White Drapey T-shirt: Comfy and stylish, great with leggings. Long enough to not feel bare.
  • Navy Blue and White striped bateau neck shirt with 3/4 sleeves: A classic. It's a clean, pulled together top, very Brigitte Bardo. Very French.(I love to pair mine with my leopard skirt and denim vest.)
  • Leopard Top: To me leopard is a neutral. It goes with almost anything. It was a way to dress up my skinnies and look pulled together while still being super comfortable.
Bottoms:
  • Leggings: I packed 3 pairs of black leggings. Worked well with my shirts and was cute under dresses too.
  • Black Skinny Jeans: I love my black skinnies. They end at the ankle and are so pulled together looking while being really comfortable.
  • Skinny Blue Jeans: Laid back and casual. Look great with ballet flats, sneakers, or tucked into my boots.
  • Leopard Print Pencil Skirt: Mine is stretchy and comfy and gives a bit of zip to a basic tee.
Dresses:
  • Black Sequin Dress: I wanted something party worthy. I wore this layered over a black t, and leggings, paired with my denim vest and boots.
  • Easy Dress up/Dress down Dress: I had a easy dress that I could wear to church, or go to the mall, or get lunch with friends. It was easily transitional.
Shoes:
  • Zip up Knee High Boots: Easy to walk in, great for changing climates, look pulled together, add interest to a simple outfit, I just love them.
  • Black Ballet Flats: I actually didn't pack mine and wished I had. Just classic. Comfortable and can dress up jeans, and look great with a skirt or dress.
  • Black Leather Vans: I love my Vans. They are the first ones I have ever owned. They are super comfy, and the black leather (rather than the usual canvas) adds a fun twist to my outfits.
  • Red Sandals: It eventually got warm while I was in Houston, so I was glad I had my sandals. Mine are a red mexican fabric and work well with so many looks. And I got to show off my cute pedicure while I was there :0)
Accessories:
  •  Black Knit Beanie: Great for transition weather. I've had mine since highschool. It's warm and looks cute with most outfits.
  • Faux Fur Collar: Mine is from H&M (actually the one pictured) and I am in love with it! I wear it with sooo many things. I personally love to throw it over my denim vest to give a look a fun juxtaposition of grunge and glam.
  • Fun Jeweled Statement Knecklace: Mine is from Forever 21 and is super sparkly! It adds a fun touch to anything I pair it with.
  • A Fun Brooch: Mine is also from Forever 21 and I love it. (Keep your eye out when you shop, because F21 can have some great rhinestone jewelry that looks way more expensive than it is)
  • Rhinestone Headband: Also from Forever 21. Great way to have fun and dress up a simple look.
  • Scarves: I brought two. I large fun multi color leopard print one that I wore on the plane, and a vintage silk scarf I bought in SLC at Decades. It has several Italian landmarks on it that reminds me of when I lived in Florence at 21.
Makeup and Beauty: (I picked up my cleansers and shampoos at Target after I got to Houston)
  •  L'oreal's Mineral Powder foundation: Gives good coverage and is cheaper than Bare Minerals.
  • Nars Schiap Lipstick: Such a great pink.
  • L'oreal lipstick: I have the True Red and I pair it with a Ben Nye lip liner. Great red that works well with my pale skin.
  • Liquid eyeliner: Found a great one that is super cheap and easy to apply. It's a pen style, it was $2 and I honestly can't remember who it is by.
  • Almay Blue Eye Eyeshadow Palette: Has a great copper color, and a good brown.
  • Wet n Wild Bronzer Palette: Gives good color and not too dark for my pale skin. Gives just enough warmth with its mix of pinks, golds, and bronze.
  • L'oreal Voluminous Mascara: I have used this off and on for years. A classic.
  • Not Your Mothers Beach Spray: I love this to give some texture to my straight hair, and when I curl my hair it creates beachy waves. You can find it in a travel size.
  • Cetaphil Cleanser and Mosturizer: Since moving to Utah my skin has become very sensitive. I had found this to be the best cleanser and cream that doesn't break me out and feels good on my skin too. You can get it in travel sizes too.
  • John Freida Frizz Serum: I love this stuff. It protects my hair from heat tools, gives shine, combats frizz, and makes my hair silky.

Zombie Killer

So lately I have been having a lot of zombie related dreams. Just last night I had five dreams all filled with zombies. In my dream I'm running around a house trying to figure out what to grab before I make my get away. Now if I were a super awesome heroine in a zombie movie I would love to wear something like this....
